Question 4: This is water

Life should be about being happy no matter the circumstance. In the speech, “This is water”, by David Wallace he portrays that life is about making it through each day without wanting to “shoot yourself in the head”, and I completely disagree with that. The author uses examples from every day-to-day experience about how hard life can be from being stressed out at work, chaos at the grocery store, traffic on the road. Although we all encounter day-to-day problems people can always make it through the rough times no mater how hard life gets. People will go through rough times and get frustrated and angry, but it is up to that person if they choose to be happy through the hard and bad times. The author does bring up a very precise point that life is about making it to age 30 or 50 without committing suicide although it is untrue. Wallace claims that life is such a horrible thing to have when really it is the complete opposite. Life isn’t about struggling even though some days people will be terrible; human beings can always choose to be strong and fight through those bad days for good days. I disagree with David Wallace’s speech because life is about enjoying it and being happy no matter the situation. My favorite quote that I live by and everyone else should to is “It ain’t about how hard you get hit: its about how hard you can get hit. And keep moving forward. It’s how about how much you can take. And keep moving forward. That is how winning is done” (Rocky Balboa). Every human being needs to realize David Wallace is wrong about life. People can make it through any situation, life is about being happy not about wanting to kill yourself everyday. Human-beings need to start being happy, and enjoying life because it is the only life we have so people should enjoy it rather than take it for granted.
